Britain and France have signed an historic deal to tackle the number of migrants crossing the English Channel.

Priti Patel and her French counterpart said they wanted to make the route unviable, they agreed to double the number of French police patrolling the French coastline targeted by people-smugglers.

The agreement also includes an enhanced package of surveillance technology, with drones and radar equipment being used to deploy French police to the right places.
